Rev. William E. Malloy, Pastor  

Rev. William E. Malloy, Pastor

On July 1, 2007, Fr. Bill Malloy became the fifth pastor of St. Barnabas Parish. He was ordained a priest in 1973 for the Archdiocese of Chicago, and has previously served as pastor of St. Maurice Parish in Chicago and St. Germaine Parish in Oak Lawn. Fr. Bill loves being a parish priest, and with his family deeply rooted on the South Side, he is a die-hard White Sox fan.
   

 
 

Rev. Augustine Mahogne, Associate Pastor

On July 1, 2016, Fr. Augustine joined St. Barnabas Parish as the Associate Pastor. He was ordained a priest in 2009 for the Archdiocese of Chicago, and began his priestly ministry at St. Benedict's Parish in Blue Island, and later served as an Associate Pastor at St. Zachary's in Des Plaines. Born and raised in Tanzania, Fr. Augustine enjoys reading, bicycling, and his passion is spending time with ministries and parishioners.
 
 
 

Rev. James Donovan

Fr. Donovan has been a priest since 1987.  Fr. Donovan was previously assigned to Our Lady of Loretto in Hometown. Fr. Jim was elected by priests to serve as secretary of the priest placement from 2008-2013. Cardinal George appointed Fr. Jim as Vicar for priest in July 2013. He kiddingly states:  "My ministry began in Waukegan and I have been moving south ever since! I am a proud Cub fan doing mission work on the South Side of Chicago. Sometimes it is lonely-- thank God for golf!"  Fr. Donovan asks that you pray for the many great priests of this local church; those of your youth and of all your different ages.

 

   
Ms. Kitty Ryan, Pastoral Associate/Director of Music and Liturgy  

Kitty Ryan, Pastoral Associate/Director of Music and Liturgy

Kitty’s main responsibilities include designing, developing, implementing and maintaining the parish music ministry program and the parish liturgy program as well as serving as parish funeral coordinator. She also serves as the staff liaison to the Spiritual Life Commission.
 
 
   

Elaine Gaffney, School Principal

Elaine administers to the school and works with the school board to ensure academic excellence. In addition, Elaine is a moderator of Student Council. She keeps abreast of the activities of the Family School Association and Athletic Board and works collaboratively with both groups.
 
 
   

Matt Furjanic, Director of Religious Education

Matt administers the Religious Education program for Preschool-8th grade, including the recruiting and formation of catechists. He helps families grow in faith. He is responsible for Sacramental formation for Eucharist, Confirmation and Reconciliation for all families. For the school, Matt prepares and coordinates school liturgies and prayer services working with students and teachers. Matt is a member of the RCIA team and coordinates the children’s catechumenate, and is the staff liaison to Parish Council and SPRED.

 
 
 
 

Gail Byrnes, Business Manager

Gail administers all of the business aspects of maintaining the physical plant and managing parish operations including human resources, benefits, technology, finance and investments, budgets, accounting and payroll. She works closely with the Finance Board, Physical Resource Committee, Endowment Foundation, Stewardship, and Grant-in-Aid.
   
Ms. Geri Doherty, Parish Secretary  

Geri Doherty, Parish Secretary

When you call St. Barnabas rectory, the friendly voice you are likely to hear is that of Geri Doherty. Geri is responsible for general questions and information. She updates the parish website and creates the parish bulletin. She also is in charge of the scheduling for all facilities on the parish grounds.
     
   

Monica B. Wilczak, Director of Development

Monica Wilczak is responsible for the stewardship and development efforts of St. Barnabas with a focus on managing programs that allow parishioners to contribute their time, unique talents, and financial resources to our community and parish. Monica works closely with the Administration Commission, Development and Communications Committees, as well as the annual Big Bucks Raffle and School Alumni. Monica is a lifelong southsider and proud to have been a member of the Beverly and St. Barnabas communities, along with her family, since 2005.

     
 

Maryellen Harrington, Youth Ministry Coordinator

Maryellen Harrington serves as Youth Minister to the 6-12th grade youth of St. Barnabas parish. St. Barnabas Youth Ministry follows the three goals outlined by the united States Conference of Catholic Bishops for parish youth ministry which are to EMPOWER, our young people to live as disciples in our world today, to draw our young people into responsible PARTICIPATION in the life, mission, and work of the St. Barnabas Catholic community and beyond, and to foster the total PERSONAL AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH of the adolescent community of St. Barnabas.

     
   

Judy Norris, Chief Gardener

Judy is our chief gardener. Judy and her crew take care of the planting, watering, and weeding of our parish grounds.  This includes our church, school, convent, and rectory gardens, as well as the parking lot islands. 
 
   
 
   

Cindy Wirtz, Cook/Housekeeper

Cindy works in the rectory on a part-time basis keeping the kitchen well stocked, preparing delicious evening meals for the resident priests, and performing light housekeeping duties.
   
   

Phil Smith, Maintenance Engineer

Phil, is responsible for the daily maintenance and upkeep of the rectory and the church and assists with maintenance at the school. Phil has a working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC.
 
 
   

Alexandre Tsomaia, Accompanist/Assistant Music Director

Alexandre (Sandro) is an internationally acclaimed musician who performs across the country and abroad. He serves as our full time accompanist at all parish liturgies, school liturgies, funerals, weddings, as well as at many special services and parish events.
 
 
 

Bill Sullivan, Deacon

Bill was ordained to the deaconate in 1986. He has been working with the St. Barnabas Community as a deacon since his ordination. Hospital visitations, Baptisms, assisting with funerals when requested, and assisting at Sunday Masses are the major parts of Deacon Bill’s ministry.
   
Deacon Andy Neu  

Andy Neu, Deacon

Deacon Andy has been a parishioner since 1994 and was ordained a Permanent Deacon in 2001. Since that time he and his wife Cindy have enjoyed working together in Children's Liturgy, Baptism Prep, Marriage Prep and Youth Ministry. After 23 years as a graphic designer at a large corporation, Andy was called to active duty in the teaching ministry and has been teaching Religion classes at Marist High School since 2004. Today he is the Chair of the Ministry Department at Marist where he oversees the Religious Studies curriculum and Campus Ministry programs.
   
 

Larry Conway, Deacon

Larry and his wife Jeanne have been members of the St. Barnabas Parish Community for more than 35 years. They raised their six children here and feel a real part of this community. Larry was ordained a permanent deacon in 1987 and it has been his primary privilege to serve in ministry to the homebound and nursing homes.

Rev. William Kenneally, Week-End Assistant

Fr. Kenneally is a retired priest from the Chicago Archdiocese who has worked in various parishes for 44 years. Now living in St. Barnabas Parish, he enjoys saying Mass on occasion. Fr. Kenneally finds Beverly a wonderful family environment and a community with remarkable energy.
