Annual Catholic Appeal
The Archdiocese of Chicago, like most dioceses in the United States, conducts an annual campaign to help fund the work of its departments, agencies, ministries, and offices. Proceeds from the appeal are used to help enhance Catholic education, ministry and services to people, parishes and schools throughout the Archdiocese.

Catholic Campaign for Human Development
The Catholic Campaign for Human Development works to uphold the dignity of human life by breaking the cycle of poverty across the United States. Proceeds are used to supply grants to local community-based groups who create jobs, improve education, and strengthen neighborhoods. Twenty-five percent of the CCHD collection stays in the diocese to fund local anti-poverty projects; seventy-five percent supports national grant and education programs. Catholic Relief Services/Operation Rice Bowl
Catholic Relief Service's Operation Rice Bowl makes a concrete difference in the lives of those living in poverty. During the Lenten season, St. Barnabas joins millions of Catholics in all 50 states to assist our brothers and sisters around the world. Through traditional Lenten practices of prayer, fasting, and learning, Operation Rice Bowl aims to raise awareness about the plight of the poor at home and around the world.

At St. Barnabas, our seventh graders from school and religious education help our awareness by hosting a “simple soup supper” for the parish. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from the St. Barnabas collection benefit the Maple-Morgan Park food pantry; the remaining money is sent to Catholic Relief Services to help fund development projects designed to increase food security in communities in more than 40 countries around the world.
