Social Justice Ministries

Peace and Justice Committee

The St. Barnabas Peace and Justice Committee was formed to help us, as a parish, better understand and appreciate the church’s teachings on social justice issues and explore what we can do to further those teachings. As Catholics, we are called to act, both individually and as a community, to prevent poverty and injustice as well as to minister to those who suffer their effects. Catholic teachings ask us to question the causes of an injustice and to act to change those causes.

The Committee meets monthly, the second Tuesday of every month, in the church basement, and is open to all interested. For further information, please contact Steve Yokich (773) 298-6268 or via e-mail, yokenrider@aol.com.

Respect Life Group

In the spirit of charity, and in accordance with the teachings of our Catholic Church, the St. Barnabas Respect Life Group strives to provide information, encourage fellow parishioners, and sponsor a variety of activities in order to foster a parish-wide reverence for human life, in every condition, from conception to natural death.

The Committee meets monthly and is open to all interested. For further information, please contact Beth Devane (773) 239-2639 or via e-mail, bdevane@aol.com.
