STUDENT COUNCIL  2007—  2008

The St. Barnabas Student Council is an organization of elected student officers and representatives.  The purposes of the organization are to promote Christian living and good citizenship, to develop student leadership, to encourage school spirit, and to create a positive environment for all students. 

Some qualifications for a position as an officer on the student council are as follows:

·       Have a C average in all subjects with no U’s

·       Have attended St. Barnabas school for at least two years

·       Have no suspensions during the current school year

·       Have no “Unsatisfactory” comments for the first three quarters on his/her report card

·       Be ready and willing to serve the school and spend time outside of school hours in planning student council projects and events

To qualify to run for the position of Commissioner General a student must have served for at least one year on student council.

One representative from each homeroom (grades 3-8) is elected in the fall.  Student Council meetings are held each week on Monday after school for approximately forty-five minutes.  Morning, lunch, and extra after school meetings are sometimes necessary to fulfill committee requirements and duties.

Three unexcused absences from student council meetings/activities will result in termination from student council.
