Faith Based Education

St. Barnabas School exists to pass on the teaching of Jesus to the children of the parish, to form them in gospel values, and to help them transform these values into daily living. Instruction in religious truth and values is an integral part of the school program. It is not one more subject alongside the rest, but instead it is perceived and functions as the underlying reality in which students’ experiences of learning and living achieve their coherence and deepest meaning.

Mr. Matthew Furjanic is the full-time Director of Religious Education for St. Barnabas Parish. The religious education program involves daily classroom religious instruction coordinated with the parish sacramental preparation programs as follows:

Students and families in these grades participate in evenings of reflection and retreats which enhance the sacramental preparation.

Special liturgical programs occur throughout the year, including Living Stations of the Cross during Lent, Crowning of the Blessed Mother Mary in May, and the Christmas Pageant in December. All school liturgies are celebrated throughout the school year with grade levels taking part in the planning and ministering of these masses. Each grade level also takes part in a family mass on an assigned given Sunday.
