Announcing the MATCH Program - June 2008

A new curriculum project is underway that offers differentiated learning for St. Barnabas students in math and reading. The MATCH program (Matching Achievement to Curriculum Heights) is designed to modify instruction for different types of learners, clustering students homogeneously for instruction in math and reading. St. Barnabas School is pleased to welcome consultant Dr. Meg Carroll who, with our administration, faculty and two learning specialists, developed and will assist with the implementation of the MATCH program.

St. Barnabas Unveils New McDonald Learning Center - May 2008

After months of renovation, St. Barnabas School unveiled its state-of-the-art library/learning center on May18, 2008 with a special dedication ceremony held after 10 o’clock Mass. The library was created in honor of Sheila Doherty-McDonald, a St. Barnabas parishioner and dedicated school volunteer who lost her life to breast cancer in Sept. 2006. The new library combines the traditional aspects of a library with state-of-the-art technology, including seven new iMac computers, a ceiling-mounted LCD projector and a wide-screen television. A new circulation desk, additional tables and chairs for students and a reference area for parents and teachers were also included in the design, making the McDonald Learning Center a wonderful new addition for both students and teachers at St. Barnabas.

St. Barnabas Welcomes a New Pastor and Principal - July 2007 / August 2006

St. Barnabas School is currently under the leadership of Principal Lenore Barnes, who spent a long career at Our Lady of Loretto School in Burbank before coming to St. Barnabas in August 2006. Father William Malloy arrived at St. Barnabas a year later, in July 2007, to serve as our new pastor after we bid Father Raymond Tillrock a fond farewell. Father Malloy had previously served as pastor at St. Germaine Parish in Oak Lawn.
