St. Barnabas School Play

The Family School Association sponsors a school play each year at St. Barnabas School. Professional staff members from the Beverly Art Center provide direction, choreography, and choral direction for the production. Parent volunteers manage other production needs such as set construction, costumes, publicity, programs and a cast party.

All students from 5th through 8th grade are welcome to try out for the play in November. Students can also volunteer for crew jobs such as lighting, sound, and prop management.

Practices run from November to February and are held 2 days a week immediately after school. Finally, a tech week with daily practices ends with a school performance and a weekend of performances for friends and family in the school gym.

Recent productions put on by St. Barnabas students include Peter Pan, Annie, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Godspell, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, The Wiz, Bye Bye Birdie, Footloose, Grease, Alice in Wonderland Jr., Guys & Dolls Jr., Into the Woods Jr., Mulan Jr., Wizard of Oz and Beauty and the Beast, Jr.

Cast members have the opportunity to sing, dance, and many have speaking roles. All learn how to work together as a team and experience the excitement of performing. The cost for participating in the play is approximately $100 per student for actors and $40 for crew members.
