St. Barnabas Strings Program

The St. Barnabas Strings Program offers affordable music instruction for students interested in playing the violin, cello, guitar or keyboard. All St. Barnabas students in Kindergarten through 8th grade are welcome to join the string orchestra program.

Instruction is provided by Judy Lei, who has been the director of the popular Chicago Southside Youth String Orchestra for the past 17 years. She also teaches at many other area schools and the Judy Lei Music School located at 9500 S. Avers in Evergreen Park.

The goals of the Strings Program are:

  • To provide the highest quality music education for all students
  • To identify and nurture individual talent
  • To foster camaraderie and group cooperation
  • To prepare students for high school orchestra
  • To provide students with a foundation for a lifelong appreciation of music

To accomplish these goals, one 30 minute group lesson is offered each week during school hours at a time the curriculum permits. Private lessons may also be arranged. A Christmas and a Spring Concert are held each year.

Tuition is $125 per ten week session for the Fall, Winter, and Spring Sessions. Instrument Rental is also available for an additional fee.

If you would like more information about the Strings Program, contact the Instructor, Judy Lei at 847-297-6899 or click here for registration information.
