Irish Dancing at St. Barnabas

Irish dance lessons are available at St. Barnabas School on Thursday afternoons immediately after school. The lessons are 45 minutes long and are taught in the school lunch room. All students in Kindergarten through 8th grade are welcome to participate in Irish Dance.

Lessons are given by the Weber School of Irish Dance, which is one of Chicagoland’s largest Irish Dancing Institutions. They have been training dancers throughout the city since 1962. Weber has been teaching Irish Dance at St. Barnabas School since 1974.

Students will learn Celtic Jigs, Hornpipes, Reels, Hornpipes, Tipping Reels, and Set dances. The Weber School focuses not only on the steps, but on the entirety of the dance experience, teaching underlying values of friendship and integrity.
