Resource Program

The St. Barnabas Resource Program is designed to help students reach their academic potential in reading and math and help provide special accommodations in grades K-8. The needs of accelerated, as well as learning challenged students are addressed with the support of three full-time, specially-trained teachers. In addition, a professor from St. Xavier University assists with the programs for the accelerated students. All four instructors serve as a liaison between teachers, parents, and students.

Efforts are often coordinated with the Chicago Archdiocesan Center for Inclusive Education. This center provides testing and support services to meet the unique needs of each child.

An Individualized Catholic Education Plan (ICEP) may be written to provide the necessary accomodations for students based upon standardized test results. Upon completion, accommodations are implemented during the regular school day and reviewed at least once a year. Intervention team meetings may be initiated to better service all students in academic, behavioral, and organizational areas.
