Shrine of the Saints of the Americas

Icons painted by Meltem Aktar

Saint Barnabas Church is the home of the Shrine to the Saints of Americas. As part of its Millenium Campaign, St. Barnabas commissioned Meltem Aktas to create an icon of each American saint. Mounted together, these beautiful images form the Shrine. A convert to Catholicism, Turkish born Aktas has embraced the art of iconography as part of our ancient spiritual tradition. The ultimate purpose of the icons is to encounter an invisible God through the image in an ancient form of quiet, meditative prayer.

Please come and see these magnificent paintings.
