Youth Ministry ("Teen Club") Conducting Registrations NOW!
For safety purposes all teens are required to register for the youth ministry prior to attending any program or activity. For example, if you are interested in attending the open gym nights, Great America, etc. then you will need to have submitted a registration. The registration form can be downloaded on the right side of this page. The registration form and all event permission slips get returned to the Rectory marked "youth ministry". Registrations are accepted throughout the year, however they will not be on hand at events. Click Here to Download, Print, and Complete your Registration form.
High School Peer Ministry
The goal of the High School Peer Ministry Team is to build relationships among our parish youth and an opportunity for teens to development leadership skills that allow them to help minister to their peers, while also preparing them for the challenges of daily teen pressures, young adulthood and beyond.
Peer Ministry offers opportunities for teens to grow closer to their peers, caring adults, and Christ through sharing their time and talents with their peers and parish. Through discussions on challenging issues that teens face each day, through movies, faith enrichment, and fun social events Peer to Peer Ministry changes the lives of our parish youth. Peer Ministers will also serve as retreat and program facilitators for youth ministry activities.
You can’t build community and minister to one another if you are rarely present and available to your peers, specifically those in in St. Barnabas Peer Ministry. Therefore, all of the Peer Ministers are asked to make a commitment to attend the twice monthly Peer Ministry meetings and to consider leadership roles in our parish Teen Family Mass. While the commitment to the twice monthly meetings is required, up front. Accepting a leadership role will come in time. Again, leadership development is part of the training and as such we anticipate teens will accept responsibility as they build confidence.
SUNDAY OCTOBER 11th, 6-7:30pm in the Convent is our first Peer Minister Meeting. Return your Teen Club registration and indicate “Peer Ministry” to sign up. Call Maryellen at 773-779-1166 or email me at

HIGH SCHOOL Co-Ed Sports Teams
We are forming Co-Ed High School Sports Teams for the St. Barnabas Youth Ministry. It is not an intense league, it is not a huge time commitment, it is perfect for just a night out to have fun. We compete against Catholic parishes on the Southside of Chicago and its Suburbs.
You do not have to be experienced to play or be a sports fanatic. It is a great way for experienced as well as inexperienced players to get to be a part of a team sport. Everyone plays!
Due to “IHSA” rules which prevent you from playing for two teams during that season, we offer our sports on a different schedule then your High School. For example, Basketball is a winter sport and Volleyball is a Fall sport. During the High School Volleyball season, you can’t play on another Volleyball team based on “IHSA” rules. Therefore we offer Basketball in the fall and Volleyball in the winter to avoid this conflict. Everyone plays!
Do you want to play Co-Ed Basketball? Registration is happening now. Permission slips are available at the rectory and the parish website.
WE NEED COACHES AND REFS FOR OUR TEAM.
MOMS & DADS…. WILL YOU HELP?
Jr. High Open Gyms Are Back!
St. Barnabas Youth Ministry Jr. High Open Gym Nights are back on the schedule for 2009/ 2010. However, we need parent chaperones to make them possible and we need the teens' full cooperation.
