Worship Ministries

o LITURGY COMMITTEE 

Plans and prepares our community’s prayer

 

o ART AND ENVIRONMent COMMITTEE 

Plans and prepares our worship space. Particular needs include Decorating, Sewing, and Plant/Flower Care.

 

o EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS 

Ages 16 and older, for regular weekend Masses

 

o LECTORS 

High school age and older, for regular weekend and weekday Masses

 

o SACRISTANS 

High school age and older; before Masses, prepares the sacred vessels and other items used in our Eucharistic celebrations

 

o LINEN CARE 

Launders and irons the altar linens once per week on a rotating basis

 

o LITURGICAL DANCER 

Jr High age and older; combining artistic movement with sacred music to express the word and spirit of God

 

o MUSIC MINISTRY / ADULT CHOIR 

High School age and up; rehearses on Wednesday evenings, sings at our 10 AM Mass on Sundays and at other liturgies as scheduled

 

o MUSIC MINISTRY / CHILDREN’S CHOIR 

3rd through 8th grade; rehearses on Wednesdays after school

 

o MUSIC MINISTRY / INSTRUMENTALISTS 

High School age and up; wind, brass, string, percussion, and keyboard musicians rehearse with the adult Choir on Wednesday evenings, and accompany the choir at our 10 AM Mass on Sundays and at other liturgies as scheduled by the Director of Music

o ALTAR SERVERS 

6th grade and older; required training occurs in the Summer

 

o GREETERS/USHERS 

High school age and older, for weekend Masses; welcoming our guests and assisting with the Offertory collection and presentation of the gifts

Human Concerns Ministries

o Bunk Bed Build 

A parish-wide service project to build bunk beds, collect bed linens, make blankets, and rally our parish generosity around the issue of 'bedlessness.' Contact Deacon Andy Neu at [email protected]

 

o Harvest Sunday 

Parish-wide food drive to collect non-perishable food items for the Maple/Morgan Park Food Pantry. Contact Mike and Carolyn Crispo at [email protected], 773-213-3905

 

o PADS Shelter Dinners  

Provides Sunday dinner, hospitality, clothing, and shelter to the homeless population near Marquette Park. Contact Mary Kochanny at [email protected], 773-445-4158

 

o POSEN CHILI MINISTRY 

A bi-monthly sidewalk soup kitchen ministry serving chili to those experiencing food insecurity in Posen, IL. Contact Deacon Andy Neu at [email protected]

 

o Red Tag 

Organizes a Christmas Gift Drive for disadvantaged children and families in partnership with Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army. Contact Nancy Harvey at 773-239-2293

 

o Southside Catholic Peace and Justice 

Sponsors interfaith ‘You are My Neighbor’ events and opportunities to fight injustice, poverty, and violence by raising awareness of and acting upon the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.

 

o St. Gall Food Pantry 

Volunteers collect, sort, and help distribute food on Wednesday mornings.

 

o St. Vincent DePaul Society 

Provides confidential assistance to parishioners and neighbors in need. Contact Denny Conway at [email protected], 773-779-6064

 

o Su Casa Soup Kitchen 

Hosts a Sunday Noon meal every other month for those experiencing food insecurity in the Englewood community.

Prayer and Pastoral Ministries

o Adoration and Benediction 

Held the first Thursday evening of each month. Spiritually strengthen your family and yourself with an hour of scripture, song, and silent prayer, culminating in a Eucharistic Blessing of the Faithful. Contact Deacon Chris Parker at 224-803-1533, [email protected]

 

o Bible Study 

Bi-weekly daytime and evening sessions to read, reflect, and relate sacred scripture to our daily lives in a small faith sharing environment. No experience necessary. Contact Deacon Andy Neu at [email protected], 773-779-1166 x542

o HOUSE BLESSINGS

o MEN’s PRAYER GROUP

o Senior Group

o Taize Prayer
